CBD Consumption: Different Ways to Use CBD

Advocates of cannabidiol (CBD) are flocking to it as a therapeutic supplement. However, if you are new to CBD then you might be wondering about the different ways to use it. In this article, we are going to examine the various ways to consume CBD. Since everyone is unique and what works for one person might not work for another, there really is no objectively superior way to consume it.

CBD Oils and Tinctures

CBD oils and tinctures are one of the most common ways to consume CBD. You simply use a dropper to place the recommended serving  under your tongue. This method is known as ‘sublingual ingestion.’ The rich network of blood vessels beneath the tongue rapidly absorbs the CBD through the thin skin layers. Unlike many brands, Also Organics’ packaging and labeling clearly indicate suggested dosage measurements so you know the exact amount of CBD you will be ingesting. CBD oils and tinctures are always mixed with a carrier oil such as medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil, coconut oil, or hemp seed oil. Depending on the tincture, it also might contain vinegar, artificial flavoring, vegetable glycerin alcohol, or ethanol. Also Organics uses organic MCT oil, full-spectrum CBD and nothing else - no preservatives and no artificial flavoring.  When you ingest CBD sublingually, it usually takes 20 to 40 minutes to take effect.

Some people opt to not take CBD oils and tinctures sublingually but instead place drops in food or beverages. However, it does take longer to take effect when used orally and the results might be diminished because it must go through the gastrointestinal tract during digestion before being absorbed into the bloodstream.

CBD Tinctures at Also Organics

At Also Organics, we offer the following:

CBD Ingestibles

CBD infused foods and beverages are referred to as ‘ingestibles.’  When ingesting CBD orally, it must first undergo digestion before being absorbed into the bloodstream. The entire process can take up to two hours before you feel the effects of CBD.

Gummies are a popular CBD edible. We offer 10 and 25mg CBD gummies that are vegan, gluten-free, and made from all organic ingredients. Also, we have CBD drink mix packets in orange and berry flavors. The packets contain 25 mg of CBD per packet. It usually takes up to two hours to feel the effects of an edible and the results last about eight hours in your system.

CBD Capsules and Soft Gels

Capsules and soft gels are easy to store and take. Many people already take daily supplements via capsules so using CBD in such a form is just an extension of their daily herbal nutrient regime. At Also Organics, we offer 25 and 50 mg CBD gel caps that are easy to swallow and a great way to obtain your daily CBD dosage.

CBD Topicals

If you suffer from muscle aches, joint pain such as arthritis, acne, chapped lips, excessive dryness, or other skin problems, you might want to check out a CBD laden topical. You simply smooth the lotion, balm, or pain salve onto the skin’s surface at the site of discomfort or concern. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes for the topicals to absorb into the skin and take effect. The topicals respond to the body’s endocannabinoid receptors that are located just below the skin’s surface. The effects of the topicals last about two to four hours. People suffering from acne are also turning to CBD topicals during breakouts because the cannabidiol has strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

At Also Organics we have the following topicals available:

Transdermal CBD Patch

Transdermal CBD patches are very popular for those seeking fast absorption of CBD. However, Also Organics does not currently carry CBD transdermal patches. The patches are adhesive patches that you place directly on your skin’s surface so that the CBD is absorbed into the skin’s layers. People suffering from chronic pain often use the patches because they provide a consistent dosage of CBD. It normally takes about 20 minutes to start feeling the effects of the patch once it is laid across your skin. The effects last for four to six hours.

Vaping and Smoking CBD

The fastest way to feel the almost instant effects of CBD is through vaping or smoking. The cannabidiol quickly enters your system through the lungs’ bloodstream. Despite the rapid absorption (effects are felt in five to ten minutes), the effects usually last only a couple of hours.

You can vape CBD concentrates, vape oil/juice, or dried CBD-rich flower material. Vape pens are disposable and affordable. Another option is to invest in a vaporizer if you plan on using CBD frequently. CBD-rich concentrates such as waxes, oils, or shatter are used in a dab rig. If you plan to vape flower then you can use an herbal vaporizer to truly enjoy all the cannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenes found in the plant. Currently, Also Organics does not offer CBD vape products.

Which Method of CBD Consumption is Best for You?

You’ll need to decide why you are using CBD. If you want to use it as a daily supplement, then a tincture, oil, capsule, soft gel, or edible is a fantastic option. To target specific areas of the body, you can go with a topical. For rapid absorption, vaping or a transdermal patch might be your preferred method of use. You should always research how long it takes to take effect and the duration of effectiveness. Everyone’s body chemistry is different so what works best for one person might not work as well for another.
