Frequently Asked Questions

What is Also Organics?

What makes your product different from all the others on the market?

Also Organics™ creates personal wellness products with the finest, full-spectrum, whole-plant CBD (and CBG)—all made from 100% organic, American-grown hemp. We offer a wide range of products including tinctures, gummies, gel caps, balms, pain salves, lotions, and more. Our unique process of warm water ultrasound extraction leaves behind no chemical solvent residue and enhances standard CBD molecules into nanoparticles, allowing the body’s systems to more easily access the healing potential of CBD. Long story short, these tiny particles are more bioavailable and effective.

In addition to our uniquely clean processing methods, our products are made with non-gmo organic ingredients, and most of them are certified kosher and vegan.  See product page for specifics.

Why are you called Also Organics?

The name Also Organics, speaks to addition.  We help you feel your best so you can do more. Like the cumulative effect of CBD, we build you up day by day. We believe there’s always more—more to see, more to experience, more to discover. Life is a playground of opportunity waiting to be explored. Also Organics™ unlocks your potential to not only go through life, but ALSO to live it. Our products offer balance in an increasingly chaotic world.

Do you use organic ingredients in your products?

When possible, we use only the best possible organic ingredients to give our bodies a natural way to do more with what’s already inside them. We responsibly process our products and use alternatives to plastics whenever possible, reducing our impact on the Earth and the toxins in your system. Ninety nine percent of the ingredients in our product line are organic.

Do you provide third-party testing?

Each of our products is specially crafted using only the finest high-quality ingredients and infused with organic USDA-certified hemp grown in the USA. We provide a third-party lab analysis for each of our products here. Simply check the LOT code batch number on your product’s label to view the lab results.

What is CBD?

What is CBD?

CBD (short for cannabidiol) is the most prominent phytocannabinoid found in the hemp plant. It is recognized for its multiple benefits for humans and animal companions alike. CBD is nonpsychoactive, is nontoxic, and taps into the receptors in the human endocannabinoid system, a vast network of receptors that help maintain the body’s overall wellness and support many physical processes.

What is CBG?

Like CBD, CBG (short for cannabigerol) is among the 100+ molecules in the cannabis plant and is legal for cultivation, processing, and sale across the United States. CBG is unique for the “precursor” role it plays in synthesizing other cannabinoids like CBD and in synthesizing the overall chemical composition of the plant. For this reason, it is often referred to as the “stem cell” of cannabinoids. Our CBG product is designed to help you achieve your personal best and help you find balance in an increasingly chaotic world.

Is CBD legal?

Hemp-derived CBD was removed from the Controlled Substances Act with the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill. Therefore, it is legal for cultivation, processing, and sale across the United States. Hemp-derived CBD is classified as any plant of the cannabis family that contains less than 0.3% THC.

What is cannabinoid?

Cannabinoids are molecular compounds naturally derived from Cannabis plants; however, they are also found in other plants and are produced inside our bodies. Cannabinoids are classified as fatty compounds that play vital roles within our immune and central nervous systems.

What’s the difference between Hemp and Marijuana?

Hemp and marijuana are both types of the cannabis plant but have a key difference: THC (the compound that causes a euphoric “high”). Our products are sourced from organic hemp, which has high amounts of naturally occurring CBD and low amounts of THC (below 0.3%). Marijuana contains high amounts of THC and low amounts of CBD, which is not preferable for CBD production. While both types of cannabis can be used to produce CBD, only hemp-derived CBD was deemed federally legal by the 2018 Farm Bill.

Am I going to get high from ingesting CBD?

No, CBD will not get you high. It's nonintoxicating. THC is the molecule that binds to receptors in our brain and is the one responsible for the psychoactive effects of marijuana. In fact, CBD is antagonistic to the marijuana high; some research expresses its potential to prevent THC molecules from binding to the brain’s receptors (hence the reason it’s often used to subdue the “paranoia” effects of super-potent THC strains).

What is the Endocannabidiol system?
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a grouping of millions of receptors primarily located in the brain and central nervous system. Researchers have identified two predominant cannabinoid receptors: CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors can be found in the nervous system, connective tissues, glands, organs, and more. CB2 receptors can be found in the immune system and the immune system’s associated structures. The ECS has been found to play a role in bringing balance to the body.
Is CBD addictive?

CBD has no physically addictive qualities, meaning you can use as much as you want as regularly as you want without worrying about becoming addicted. In addition, if you stop taking CBD, you won’t experience any withdrawal effects, even if you’ve been taking it for a long time. Along with the lack of harmful effects, this makes CBD a very risk-free natural supplement for users.

Full spectrum, broad spectrum and CBD isolates... what's the difference?

Full-spectrum hemp extracts are made when you extract the hemp plant and do not remove any plant material in the process. That means that full-spectrum extracts include the naturally occurring compounds found in the hemp plant. These compounds may include cannabinoids, terpenes, fatty acids, flavonoids, vitamins, and minerals. Full-spectrum hemp products typically include very small amounts of THC (<0.3% as required by law), as it is naturally found in the hemp plant. You may have heard about the hemp entourage effect, which is the belief that hemp products are most effective when they are made from full-spectrum extraction methods, as the chemicals in the hemp plant work together synergistically. Broad-spectrum hemp extracts are typically made using a full-spectrum extraction process, but the THC is removed. This may be a good option if you’re getting drug tested. CBD isolates are created by isolating the CBD from the hemp plant—again, a good option for someone being drug tested. While these definitions are generally true, always check the specific definitions being offered by a company to confirm them, as they can vary from brand to brand.

What is the hemp entourage effect?

The hemp entourage effect is a term used to describe the synergy that exists when the different components of the hemp plant—including CBD, THC, terpenes, and more—work together. To achieve the hemp entourage effect, a product must be full spectrum, meaning that plant compounds have not been removed or added during manufacturing. All of our products are full spectrum and therefore provide the added benefits of the hemp entourage effect.

What are terpenes?

Terpenes are aromatic combinations of carbon and hydrogen in hemp, giving hemp plants their distinct scents. They are found in the trichomes of the hemp plant (the shiny and sticky crystals that cover the leaves and buds of the plant). Terpenes, which are part of a full-spectrum CBD, contribute to the hemp entourage effect.

How does CBD interact with my body?

CBD interacts with your body's endocannabinoid system and can help by inhibiting the enzyme that breaks down your body's endocannabinoids. This gives you a boost by increasing the number of endocannabinoids in your system.

Is hemp seed oil the same as hemp/CBD oil?

No, there is a big difference between the two! Hemp seed oil is from the pressed seeds of the hemp plant. While nutritious, hemp seed oil does not contain any great number of cannabinoids. Hemp CBD oil is made from an extract of the hemp plant that is then blended with a carrier oil. We extract our CBD from the whole hemp plant, and we use USDA-certified organic MCT oil from virgin coconuts as our carrier oil.

Will I fail a drug test?

The hemp that we source is full spectrum and grown in accordance with the 2018 Farm Bill. Therefore, our products will always be below 0.3% THC. Consuming even small quantities of THC regularly via a CBD product could potentially lead to a failed drug test. However, low-quality CBD products may contain more traces of THC than they claim, which is why you should always check third-party verified lab results. (Research has shown that people who consume 6 mg of THC per day have a 25% chance of failing a drug test. This translates to about 2,000 mg per day of CBD oil with a THC content of 0.3% or less).

I'm on medication, can I take CBD?

Since we are not medical professionals, we recommend that you consult with your physician or pharmacist prior to using any cannabinoids.

How is your CBD extracted from the hemp plant?

Traditional methods of cannabis extraction are performed using harsh petroleum or alcohol-based solvents. No matter how much refining is performed on the resulting extracts, some trace of these poisonous solvents remains in the final product. We use distilled water in our extraction process, which leaves no solvent residue to be consumed by the end user.

A vibrating ultrasonic probe immersed in a liquid (in our case, H2O) will transmit alternating high- and low-pressure waves. These fluctuations cause the liquid molecular cohesive forces to break down, pulling apart the liquid and creating millions of microbubbles, which expand during the low-pressure phases and implode violently during the high-pressure phases. As the bubbles collapse, millions of microscopic shock waves, micro jet streams, eddies, and extremes in temperature are generated at the implosion sites and are propagated to the surrounding medium. Although this phenomenon, known as cavitation, lasts but a few microseconds and the amount of energy released by each individual bubble is minimal, the cumulative amount of energy generated by the imploding cavities is extremely high. Because focused ultrasound extraction provides more than 100 times the radiated energy and thus produces higher reproducibility than those obtained with ultrasonic baths, it is ideally suited for the extraction of beneficial cannabinoids. This enhanced extraction is managed by exposing more surface area by reducing the particle size of the material being processed, thus disrupting the cell walls to release the desired compounds.

When extracted properly, the resulting concentrate is reminiscent of the cannabis strain it was extracted from—the taste, smell, and effects are simply amplified due to a larger concentration by weight. On average, cannabis plant buds will yield about 15% of extracted concentrate. As expected, the quality of the extract and bioavailability will greatly depend on the amount and potency of the plant matter/trichomes (the crystalline hairlike structures coating the outside surface of the flowers) used.

What are the benefits of ultrasound-assisted extraction?
  • High yields
  • Water, as opposed to petroleum products, used as a solvent, resulting in no toxic residue left behind
  • Rapid, safe and efficient
  • Low energy consumption
  • Neutralizes bacteria, mold, and fungi from extracted material
  • Non-thermal: terpenes and cannabinoids are not denatured by excessive heat
Can CBD be certified as organic by the USDA?

Yes, and we are actively pursuing our USDA organic certification for the entire product line. We’ve been assured by a third-party certifier that all of our products are eligible for USDA organic certification, and we look forward to completing the process soon.

Does my body really have receptors for these molecules?

Yes. Cannabinoid receptors, located throughout the body, are part of the endocannabinoid system, which is involved in a variety of physiological processes including appetite, pain sensation, mood, and memory. Cannabinoid receptors are of a class of cell membrane receptors in the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily.

Can CBD cause an allergic reaction?

While the likelihood is extremely low, it is possible for a person to have an allergy to just about anything. As with any therapy, there are occasional side effects. Some of the known side effects of CBD Oil and cannabis therapies may include: Inhibition of hepatic drug metabolism/decreased activities of p-glycoprotein and other drug transporters.

Can I use CBD products while breastfeeding or pregnant?

The *FDA advises that during pregnancy and while breastfeeding, you avoid using CBD. However, this study suggests that “endocannabinoids have been detected in maternal milk, and activation of CB1 receptors appears to be critical for milk sucking by newborn mice, apparently activating oral-moto musculature.” We suggest checking with your doctor prior to use.

My oil is a different color than last time, is this normal?

Our products do not contain any additives, artificial colors, or dyes that standardize the color of our products. Therefore, minor variances in color and hue can occur from batch to batch.  Our testing process is designed to identify variances in each batch- not only for color, but for taste and quality as well.  If you have questions or concerns, please contact our Support team.

Are your products safe for kids?

In short, yes. We’ve created a product designed specifically for children so we’d feel comfortable giving it to our own kids, which we do. Cannabinoids and endocannabinoids occur naturally in the body, and children are exposed to external sources of cannabinoids quite frequently. In fact, human breast milk is an abundant source of endocannabinoids, which assist with infant development.  We suggest consulting your pediatrician prior to providing your child with CBD products.

Do your products contain THC?

“Does CBD oil have THC?” is one of the most common questions we are asked. The answer is simple yet requires more than a simple “yes” or “no” response. The short answer to this question is yes, CBD oil does contain some THC. However, it is a negligible amount of up to 0.3% THC or less and thus will not get you high as a traditional THC product would. It’s important that whatever source of CBD you elect to consume provides you with a Certificate of Analysis (COA) from a reputable laboratory so you know exactly what you’re consuming.
